Nelson Green has been a professional horse trainer for over 40 years. He has directed top show strings to virtually every honor in the Saddle Horse World, while making and marketing horses from the ground up; from the pasture into the winner’s circle.

Nelson’s gift of loving and understanding horses, coupled with his work ethnic, natural eye for horses, and the meticulous respect for detail that is his hallmark, have brought him to the top of his profession.

Green trained entries have won in excess of 100 World Championship classes (5 Gaited, 3 Gaited, Fine Harness, Park, Pleasure, Roadster, Hackney, In-Hand, & Equitation) in the Open, Amateur, Ladies, and Juvenile divisions. Additionally, he is a USEF judge and has officiated at all of the country’s major shows and in South Africa and Canada.

Nelson has contributed to his sport as a Board of Director of the ASHA, and memberships on the USEF Saddlebred Committee and Ky. State Fair Advisory Board, and was a founding member of the UPHA.

He previously owned and operated Nelson Green Stables, where he has maintained a 21 stall barn, usually with a variety of show horses and developing colts, since 1988.He has operated from Blue Willow Farm since 2011.

1990-First to win 2 Year Old 3 Gaited World Championship and 2 Year Old Fine Harness World Championship with the same horse. (The Radiant Prince)

1995- First to win 3 Year Old 5 Gaited, 3 Gaited, Fine Harness World Championships in the same year.

2002- At the World's Championship Horse Show, Nelson's amateurs won classes in the 5 Gaited, 3 Gaited, Fine Harness, Park and Roadster divisions.

Julie Kaufman

Julie is a native of St. Simons Island, Ga. Although she grew up at the beach, she was a self proclaimed "stable rat" from the beginning. There was never a doubt her life's work would involve teaching & sharing her love of horseback riding and the Saddlebred horse.

Julie obtained a BA degree in Equestrian Science from Stephens College, Columbia, MO., one of the oldest & most prestigious equine programs in the nation. During her college years, Julie apprenticed with Hall of Fame Instructor, Lillian Shively at Shively's Delovely Farm, Rockport, Ind.

Her professional experience includes extended tenures at Castle Hills Farm, Royal Scot Stables, & McConnell Stables, all producers of numerous National & World Champion Horse and Riders. During this time she gained invaluable experience in the care & training of the horse, & the instruction of the beginner and show rider in the art of Saddle Seat Riding.

Since 2006 Julie has owned and operated her own Blue Willow Farm where she was instructmental in establishing the Lexington Winter Riding Tournaments. Julie's riders successfully compete from the smallest competition to the World's Championship Horse Show, held each August in Freedom Hall, Louisville, Ky.
