Julie Kaufman

Julie is a native of St. Simons Island, Ga. Although she grew up at the beach, she was a self proclaimed "stable rat" from the beginning. There was never a doubt her life's work would involve teaching & sharing her love of horseback riding and the Saddlebred horse.

Julie obtained a BA degree in Equestrian Science from Stephens College, Columbia, MO., one of the oldest & most prestigious equine programs in the nation. During her college years, Julie apprenticed with Hall of Fame Instructor, Lillian Shively at Shively's Delovely Farm, Rockport, Ind.

Her professional experience includes extended tenures at Castle Hills Farm, Royal Scot Stables, & McConnell Stables, all producers of numerous National & World Champion Horse and Riders. During this time she gained invaluable experience in the care & training of the horse, & the instruction of the beginner and show rider in the art of Saddle Seat Riding.

Since 2006 Julie has owned and operated her own Blue Willow Farm where she was instructmental in establishing the Lexington Winter Riding Tournaments. Julie's riders successfully compete from the smallest competition to the World's Championship Horse Show, held each August in Freedom Hall, Louisville, Ky.
